Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
